Research and development of heirloom fruit varieties

PACA Heritage Orchard: Provence isn’t just about sunshine and olives—it’s also home to heirloom pears and many other fruits!  The idea of bringing them back into the spotlight took root in June 1992 with the creation of the “li vieii pero” section of the Apple Tasters by a group of enthusiasts.

Since then, our heritage orchard in Puyricard has continued to grow with old and delicious fruit varieties that we’d love for you to discover.

The orchard is open every Tuesday of the year,
including school breaks, holidays, winter, and summer!

The orchard is:

• A living heritage to be preserved, protected, developed, and promoted,
• An association of volunteers who have freely committed themselves,
• A participatory space for the exchange of knowledge,
• A place of conviviality and relaxation,
• A place managed by a regularly consulted and elected board of directors,
• A private space reserved for members who are up to date with their dues and for invited guests,
• A place to learn, understand, and discover,
• An open-air museum where people volunteer their time.
