The Kpsens association has been active since 2013 in the field of environmental education aimed at sustainable development in the Ariège region. Its headquarters and all of its activities are located within the Vallon d'Aïga third place, and are coordinated with the group hosting services provided by the Kpcentre cooperative society of collective interest.
As a driving force and member of several network initiatives, the association is now a key player in the field of ecological transition and environmental education in the region. Furthermore, the association is recognized for its support of and participation in the local community sector.
Furthermore, Kpsens has been leading two flagship projects for the past two years:
Transi'jeunes: this project enables experimentation with and promotion of civic participation; indeed, its goal is to introduce young people to co-creation tools, consult and involve young people in the development of public policies, and above all to break down barriers between practices and disseminate ideas surrounding ecological transitions. To this end, Kpsens works on youth civic participation in public policy, notably through action-oriented training on youth civic participation in public policy in Ariège.
L'Oïkos—the Transition Farm—is a project aimed at creating a food belt in the Tarascon-sur-Ariège area. In fact, this involves revitalizing the local economy with the goal of developing local food systems for sustainable agriculture and fairly priced food. As a result, the association works to offer forward-looking solutions to address health, social, and economic challenges, such as the need to renew the agricultural workforce in France, raising consumer awareness about the need to develop healthy food supply chains that respect resources through agroecological practices. As well as the disappearance of local shops and the importance of establishing new services that are accessible to the public.
