Description

The Values of the Cévennes Ecotourism Network

Cévennes Ecotourism is a non-profit association governed by the laws of 1901. It brings together individuals and organizations committed to promoting its shared values.

Deeply committed to our region and to the protection and promotion of its natural, cultural, and human heritage, we are a network of accommodation providers,  tourist site managers, mountain guides and outdoor activity leaders, farmers, artisans, artists…

All of the association’s initiatives must promote its three core values: welcoming, preserving, and sharing.

These shared values unite the members of Cévennes Ecotourisme, guide their actions, and ensure the association’s unity as well as its identity vis-à-vis partners and affiliated organizations.

It is respect for these values that grants the right to join the association network, upon decision of the Board of Directors.

These must be ratified by each member.

Welcoming

For hospitality to become a sustainable economic activity, it must promote:

  • innovation and continuous progress in practices and partnerships
  • accessibility and openness to new audiences
  • business ethics
  • cohesion among local stakeholders around joint initiatives

Preservation

To ensure the long-term preservation of the protected area’s natural, cultural, and social resources, members

  • manage their activities in a way that protects and promotes biodiversity
  • strive to have a positive impact on their environment
  • enrich and pass on their knowledge

Share

Participation in a strong, structured, and dynamic network is essential. Each member commits to

  • share their experiences and values by participating in collaborative actions
  • communicate the values of the association and the protected area
  • make solidarity the foundation for the development of their own or the network’s

The commitments of the members of the Cévennes Ecotourism Network are based on a framework document: the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas (CETD).  It is neither a brand nor a label, but a process of continuous improvement to which service providers committed to enhancing their sustainable practices subscribe.
