FRENE (formerly Réseau École et Nature), the French network for nature and environmental education, is a non-profit organization recognized as being of general interest under the French Law of 1901. It was founded in 1983 in response to the need for teachers and nature educators to meet, exchange ideas, and improve their practices.
Recognized as being of general interest and accredited for youth and popular education, and as a national educational association complementary to public education, FRENE (formerly Réseau École et Nature) was founded in 1983.
FRENE is a space for meetings and exchanges to share experiences and rethink one’s relationship with the world. A welcoming space for projects and educational innovation to create resources.
It is an association of committed individuals, architects of environmental education, a source of autonomy, responsibility, and solidarity with others and nature.
A springboard for carrying out actions at all territorial levels.
A recognized partner for leading collective projects and representing its members at the national and international levels.
In its implementation, it promotes a mindset that fosters civic solidarity among the architects of sustainable development.
The network’s role is therefore not to provide environmental education, but to serve all those who do so, while respecting their approaches, affiliations, and practices.
