What is Les Déculassées? It’s a nonprofit organization under the French Law of 1901 dedicated to empowering women and gender minorities in the fields of auto mechanics and other technical disciplines through the reappropriation of knowledge and do-it-yourself repairs.   

At the heart of the project: the Mécanista Workshops, auto mechanics courses most often with a chosen gender mix (i.e., aimed at women and gender minorities).  Grease, wrenches, and feminism—here we reclaim basic knowledge about our vehicles, gain autonomy over routine maintenance, and find an outlet against the sexism that prevails in this field.
