Description

The residents’ cooperative is a practical, virtuous, and sustainable model throughout the entire life cycle of a building—whether it’s a renovated brownfield site, an expanded farm, or, in the future, lightweight and mobile housing…

We want to move beyond the logic of “investing in bricks and mortar” by building housing that is economical, community-oriented, and eco-friendly

The Habicoop Federation proposes that we collectively imagine ways to inhabit our “damaged world  —damaged in so many ways by exploitation, inequality, the destruction of lives, relationships, land, and the very idea of the common good.”

Cooperative housing solutions are the future
. Their social value is recognized beyond our institutional partners:  citizens who get involved in these projects testify to their non-profit nature, solidarity, and cooperation in these initiatives.

The Habicoop Federation provides project leaders with the tools to bring their future housing to life.

Spotlight on a cooperative: The Soulondres Green Block in Lodève, Hérault

A group of citizens responded to a call for projects launched in 2021 by the City of Lodève and the Établissement Public Foncier Occitanie to build 22 social housing units on a 6,000-square-meter plot,  featuring shared spaces and a permaculture garden.
