Aquacoop is a non-profit organization under the French Law of 1901 specializing in cooperative and sustainable water management that takes into account the interactions between water, energy, and food.

We advocate for local stormwater management, the selective treatment of wastewater, and its reuse.

The common thread running through all our actions is to empower citizens to take an active role in the governance of water resources.  Whether through the use of participatory democracy tools to define the ecological engineering choices of projects and their implementation, or by helping to build an ecological civic culture.

ECOLOGICAL SANITATION NETWORK: Aquacoop is a member of the RAE; the network works to restore the natural water cycle and soil fertility

ESPACES Association: Aquacoop is a partner of the Espaces Association, as a signatory of the Water Charter and the Green and Blue Infrastructure Plan for the Plains and Hills of the Central Urban Seine 

ILE-DE-FRANCE WATER COORDINATION: Aquacoop is a member of CEDIF, which advocates for water as a common good.

RÉSIDENCE DE L'EAU: Aquacoop is housed within the Résidence, which brings together community organizations and entrepreneurs to build a more resilient Paris

URBAN LAB: Paris&Co’s urban experimentation laboratory

Aquacoop is a winner of the 3rd cohort of the Urban Innovation Districts. The Urban Lab supports us in testing and rolling out our participatory de-impermeabilization project in Paris’s 13th arrondissement

The objectives of the “Let’s Free the Soil, One Paver at a Time” projects are multifaceted: 

Managing stormwater: de-impermeabilization means restoring the soil’s permeability, making it capable once again of absorbing rainwater and runoff.  This preserves natural resources by replenishing groundwater and limits overflow in the drainage system.

Improving the living environment:  the participatory “Libérons le sol” construction projects aim to create a more resilient urban environment, but also one that is more pleasant to live in, by creating green spaces designed for and by the residents.

Empowering action: projects are carried out with the strongest possible involvement of residents, through not only participatory workshops but also design sessions for the new space.

For each project, we adapt to the wishes of the stakeholders, the specific constraints of the site, and the available resources.
