ARBRE is a nonprofit organization established in Réunion in 2016 under the French Law of 1901. It brings together expert members with backgrounds in science and biology. It also comprises a scientific and advisory committee, as well as a network of partners to support its missions and initiatives.
The purpose of the ARBRE association is to contribute to the monitoring, tracking, and promotion of biodiversity (marine and terrestrial) in Réunion and the Indian Ocean, as well as to disseminate information and raise public awareness from an early age. It is also an association dedicated to the study and protection of nature. It will help gather the knowledge necessary for the development of the regional ecological coherence plan. Since 2020, the association has held environmental protection accreditation.
Reunion Island is one of the world’s major biodiversity hotspots. Thus, preserving this wealth and contributing to its enhancement represents a major ecological, economic, and societal challenge.
The fields covered include biodiversity, biology, ecology, the environment, genetics, and biodiversity conservation and management.
