Research teams working to rethink development pathways by incorporating social, economic, and environmental factors

As a public institution, the French Development Agency is subject to the principle of accountability. Its governance is based on structures that ensure the transparency of its operations and the sound management of its activities.

Strengthened by the integration of the interministerial technical cooperation agency Expertise France as of January 1, 2022,  the Agence française de développement group, along with its subsidiary dedicated to the private sector, Proparco, offers a comprehensive, complementary, and unmatched range of services to support public and private actors throughout their projects.

Our research teams focus on ways to rethink development trajectories, integrating both social and economic dimensions as well as environmental aspects,  and to this end, they utilize macroeconomic analysis and modeling tools to inform decision-making. They also focus on sustainable finance and the role of financial actors in the transition. 

In 2015, the international community adopted the Addis Ababa Agenda on Financing for Development, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, and the 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  These agreements shape a new way of conceiving development, at the intersection of the economy, the environment, and social issues.  This paradigm shift calls for rethinking the integration of planetary boundaries into development trajectories, as well as the role of financial actors.

In collaboration with research centers, universities, and international partners,  we conduct research projects on the role of financial actors in the transition and how their strategic vision, financial products, and analytical tools must adapt to a changing landscape.
