The GCU is an association governed by the French Law of 1901, founded in 1937 by a group of activists from the M.A.A.I.F. (now M.A.I.F.), who wanted to share the joys of camping together.
Founded from the outset on the principles of self-management, tolerance, and secularism, the GCU brings together all those who share its founding values of humanity, secularism, solidarity, and conviviality, and who accept its vision of camping based on volunteerism and participatory management
The GCU currently manages around a hundred campgrounds spread throughout France and offers partnerships with other campgrounds, both domestically and across Europe. A wide range of sports activities are available
It has become the leading French camping and caravanning association.
Its main strengths, in addition to its attractive rates, are the quality of the atmosphere and interpersonal relationships at its sites, whose diversity and comfort are worth noting.
