Description

The QuotaClimat association was founded in early 2022, in the midst of the French presidential campaign, to draw attention to the lack of focus on the ecological crisis in the media.

Today, QuotaClimat works in partnership with citizens, businesses, organizations, policymakers, scientists, and journalists to collectively advocate for media coverage that matches the scale of the ecological crisis.  Public Engagement & Mobilization, Data Production, and Advocacy are the association’s three main areas of focus.

Our observation

Ecological crises are escalating, and their consequences are now palpable: they are material, democratic, and human.

There are many levers to address this, but one of them remains overlooked:  mobilizing journalists and the media—that is, producing sufficient, accurate, and high-quality environmental information aimed at driving action rather than inaction.

Yet, the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report states: “The media play a crucial role in shaping public perceptions, understanding, and willingness to act regarding climate change.”

By providing more and better information and conducting in-depth investigations, the media can overcome inertia and position themselves as an effective counterforce.  This is the purpose of our work: to encourage them, by every possible means, from holding them accountable to the drafting of appropriate legislation.

Our latest calls to action Nov 2025

Just a few hours left to secure a victory against climate disinformation at COP30:  we need just 4 more European countries for the European Union to join the global declaration on the integrity of climate change information (yesterday, Austria and the Czech Republic joined !!).

This week, during our event at the French pavilion at COP30, two announcements were made: Belgium is launching a national action plan against climate disinformation…  And France has also begun discussions, aiming to quickly develop a roadmap!
