Description

The Association for the Preservation of Local Small-Scale Farming has been in existence since 2008. It has grown significantly and now supplies products from about ten producers to some sixty families in Mende and the surrounding area.

For the farmers, transparency is the watchword: transparency in practices (particularly regarding plant protection), information on production techniques, and the sharing of experiences.  The selling price of the products must also be transparent and, above all, fair: it must allow farmers to be paid while remaining accessible to even the most modest consum’actors.

By bringing consumers and producers together, AMAPP aims to maintain (and even encourage the establishment of) local farms practicing sustainable agriculture. It contributes to the development of a solidarity-based economy between urban and rural areas.

For the Gévaudan AMAPP, environmentally friendly agriculture is not limited to a label (such as AB).  By working with farmers—whether certified or not, and/or in the process of setting up operations—the AMAPP of Gévaudan aims to support them in their transition toward practices consistent with its commitment.

Recognition of this approach may be institutional (certification, designation) but is first and foremost valued and driven by the association’s members.

The AMAPP of Gévaudan therefore seeks to:

  • Promote sustainable, local agriculture (respectful of nature and people) through a solidarity-based partnership between producers and conscious consumers (short supply chains).
  • Promote seasonal, high-quality, ecologically sound, and socially equitable products.
  • Develop close relationships between consumers and producers.
