A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Community Gardens

In collaboration with the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council: 

For several years now, citizens, local governments, and other stakeholders in the region have realized that we must prepare for climate change. They have assessed their vulnerability and the importance of transforming their region. Food resilience is one of the challenges we face, and it is only by working together that we can meet it, ensuring that everyone has access to healthy and sustainable food.

The association Partageons les jardins offers concrete and meaningful solutions to address this, notably by enabling those who join this initiative to transform their consumption habits, build social connections, reconnect with the land, and safeguard biodiversity, all while creating or preserving green and food-producing spaces in urban and suburban areas. These actions are more meaningful today than ever before and chart a path toward a just and inclusive ecological transition.

This partnership between the Haute-Garonne Departmental Council and Partageons les Jardins is the culmination of a long period of dialogue and collaboration. It stems from a shared commitment to developing locally rooted projects that address the challenges of tomorrow and align with the wishes of citizens. This first guide, resulting from this collaboration, aims to assist aspiring gardeners in planning and establishing community gardens, and to expand these spaces for living and sharing as widely as possible.
