Description

SOL is an organization that works in France and internationally to build fair and sustainable agricultural and food systems, enabling farmers to earn a decent living from their work and ensuring that everyone has access to healthy food.

SOW: Nurturing a passion for farming, supporting the development of agroecological farms, preserving heirloom seeds, and passing on knowledge—to cultivate, wherever we work, an organic, resilient, and people-centered agriculture.

BRINGING TOGETHER: Connecting those who produce with those who eat, building bridges between cultures, generations, and regions, fostering local and equitable food systems, and nurturing diversity in fields, regions, and food.

RESIST: Reject the massive industrialization of agriculture, the disappearance of farms, and the privatization of seeds; defend farmers’ right to make a living from their work; and stand alongside citizens to build fairer and more respectful agricultural models.

SOL’s Work

SOL advocates for peasant agroecology based on autonomy, social justice, and respect for life. Working closely with farmers, citizens, and civil society, the association supports the transformation of agricultural and food systems to build models that are fairer, more sustainable, and based on solidarity.

One-third of the world’s population depends on small-scale farming for food

How does SOL work?

SOL supports smallholder farmers’ establishment and agroecological farms, promotes the transfer of knowledge and food sovereignty, and advocates for local supply chains and smallholder seeds.

OUR INTERNATIONAL ACTIONS

  • - West Africa: Making a Living from Agroecology
  • - Resilience through agroecology in Bihar, India
  • - In Senegal, raising awareness among youth by youth!
  • - Reconnecting with the land: agroecology at the heart of Indian schools

OUR INITIATIVES IN FRANCE

  • - Farmer mentoring: SOL supports new farmers in setting up their farms
  • - Protecting and spreading farmer-saved seeds: In the Alpes-Maritimes, as elsewhere, seeds are disappearing, and so are farmers. Traditional knowledge is fading, land is becoming scarce, and the climate is becoming more unstable every day. In this context, local, resilient farmer seeds, adapted to the region, emerge as an essential solution. They enable farming that relies on soil life, shared knowledge, and biodiversity.
