La Chaumière de Fontaine is a nonprofit organization located in Fontaine-La-Mallet, Normandy.
We offer crafts, DIY projects, gardening, workshops, and lectures, and we organize community work projects.
We also serve as a resource center, where you can borrow or use DIY and gardening tools on-site.
A coworking space is scheduled to open in the summer of 2026.
La Chaumière is home to three year-round residents.
La Chaumière offers:
- The Garden: La Chaumière’s greatest asset is undoubtedly its garden, a space of nearly 8,000 m². Located along the riverbank and featuring natural water sources, it is ideal for fostering biodiversity and perfect for creating a vegetable garden. We have organized it into zones, following permaculture principles.
- The workshop: The workshop is an annex to the cottage that allows us to carry out all planned renovation projects, starting with the repair of its own roof, which was completed in January.
- The coworking space: The ground floor of La Chaumière will soon house a coworking space, which will be accessible to members via a subscription at affordable rates.
- The Rooms: To bring life and a permanent presence to La Chaumière, we have made the two upstairs rooms available for rent at a subsidized rate. These are private, exclusive spaces for the roommates.
