Description

Émergence: Working to Protect Marine Biodiversity

From the shoreline to the open sea, the Émergence association conducts ecological monitoring of marine ecosystems: conservation of loggerhead sea turtles, management of nesting sites, and monitoring of cetacean populations and coastal or pelagic habitats. Conservation programs dedicated to biodiversity in the Mediterranean

OUR ACTIONS:

· The CRFS, a “hospital” for sea turtles: In France, all species of sea turtles are protected. This means that to intervene with a sea turtle—even one in distress—one must be authorized and hold a special permit issued by the competent authorities as part of a scientific program approved by the National Council for Nature Conservation.

· Naturasca: A mission at sea to identify marine megafauna and collect waste. NaturaScan is a scientific monitoring program whose mission is to assess the presence and distribution of marine megafauna within the Natura 2000 site “Baie et Cap d’Antibes – Iles de Lérins”

· Clean & Collect: The Émergence association works to conserve the marine environment, with a particular focus on the preservation and study of Mediterranean sea turtles. As part of this effort, it has been participating since 2020 in a network monitoring macro-waste along the French coastline.

· Mission Azami: Émergence collects data on the hedgehog cricket to protect this endangered local species
