ARRU is a nonprofit organization that runs a recycling and reuse center, which opened its doors in September 2019.
In Montaren and Saint Médiers (Uzège), ARRU works with local waste collection centers to repurpose, repair if necessary, and resell at low prices everyday items that would otherwise be sent to landfills.
But ARRU also aims to inform and educate.
It is within the framework of the missions the association has taken on that we wanted to develop the Frip’Solidaire project.
The idea, by visiting schools, is to kill two birds with one stone:
OUR ACTIONS:
SCHOOLS
It all starts with dozens, even hundreds, of boxes containing the clothes we’ve selected. These are clean, of course, and appropriate for the age of the students we’ll be meeting. Upon arriving at the middle school (or high school): We are greeted by the coordinator and the group of students who lead us to the room where the event will take place. With a little help, the boxes and racks are quickly set up.
Before long, the clothing drive is underway. The coordinator and their group will have already decided on the exchange method: low-price sales, vouchers, bartering, auctions—anything is possible, provided that balance is maintained and everyone benefits.
