What is Graines de Troc?

Graines de Troc is a non-profit organization established in May 2012. Its primary goal is to work to protect cultivated biodiversity and promote the exchange of seeds and knowledge. At the heart of our activities is our free seed-swapping platform, where anyone can offer and exchange seeds. Together, we build a shared collection of common and heirloom varieties and rediscover rare or little-known varieties! Through this simple act, we preserve what our ancestors have passed down to us.

With the aim of sharing knowledge and seeds and developing our seed self-sufficiency, the association has diversified its activities and is expanding nationwide with the emergence of local chapters throughout France.

Graines de Troc is now able to offer a wide range of services and products: production and sale of seeds and seedlings (the shop), events, permaculture training on seeds and permaculture, seed banks, design support, and, since 2022, custom seed packets. 

We also support collectives working to defend cultivated biodiversity against those who monopolize living organisms and standardize them excessively, by facilitating essential local exchanges.

How does the seed exchange platform work?

Anyone can offer and exchange seeds. Each seed shipment earns a token and allows you to choose from the varieties in the collection.
