LaRécup.be helps the reuse sector shift into high gear. “Every year, the social and circular enterprises that are members of the RESSOURCES Federation already collect 62,000 tons of goods, repurpose nearly 7,000 tons as secondhand items, and provide nearly 2,000 local jobs. With LaRécup.be, this movement takes on a new digital dimension: giving objects a second life becomes even easier… and even more useful!”[1]
No fewer than 19 businesses and 44 sorting centers, reuse workshops, repair shops, and secondhand stores have been certified with the Rec’Up label in Wallonia and Brussels.
The initiative to improve circular economy practices began ten years ago when RESSOURCES implemented shared management tools for organizations involved in the reuse, repurposing, repair, and upcycling of goods.
The reuse sector is going digital: LaRECUP.BE now centralizes the secondhand offerings of resource centers and social enterprises in Wallonia and Brussels. Nearly 43,000 items are already available, ranging from books to bicycles to electronics. This project is both ecological and social, and also aims to create 1,500 jobs by 2030.
