L'écolombier - a community-driven housing project in Southern Bugey
- Collectively fostering simplicity, sharing, and solidarity. - Building and developing a community centered on ecology (in construction, consumption, production, and transportation). - Living in harmony and fostering the development of everyone’s talents.
From the outset, the association has set itself the goal of promoting one or more participatory housing projects in the Bugey-Sud area, guided by the following principles:
• a living space for people wishing to live in harmony on personal, social, and environmental levels, with independent households and
shared common spaces;
• an eco-construction project that integrates, from the design phase, goals of resource efficiency (water and materials) and energy efficiency (passive or low-energy buildings, local energy production, etc.);
• a site where ample space is dedicated to green and cultivated areas to promote biodiversity, the beauty of the surroundings, and gardening activities;
• a project open to local dynamics, in partnership with associations, businesses, and public authorities;
• a collectively managed space, using decision-making tools that allow everyone to find their place and develop relationships that are fully satisfying and fulfilling for all.
The association also aims to be intergenerational and to develop a social component by designing housing access models that benefit the most disadvantaged.
