Understanding, preserving, and promoting the Virois bocage and its biodiversity

Based at the Maison de la Botanique in Saint-Germain-de-Tallevende (Vire, Normandy), the association Le Bocage Perché works to promote awareness, preservation, and appreciation of the Vire bocage and its biodiversity.

Nature
walks to discover the various facets of the bocage landscape: its scenery, flowers, trees, birds, and insects...

Workshops
to exchange plants, build birdhouses, plant hedges, restore trails...

Coffee-and-chat sessions
to reflect together, understand, and discuss major environmental issues (ecology, climate, biodiversity...)

Lectures
to explore various topics in depth by inviting specialists (tree knowledge, ornithology, climate change...)

Exhibitions
to open the Maison de la Botanique to everyone by hosting exhibitions of paintings, photographs...

Educational
activities to raise nature awareness among young people (elementary and middle school students) as part of school and after-school programs

Participation in the “Let’s Plant Hedges” project

• Meetings with elected officials to secure their support for reforestation initiatives
• Nature outings for the general public to raise awareness about the importance of the Bocage
