Green Brigade: Protecting the environment through prevention and monitoring of rural areas in Alsace

The Green Brigade’s missions focus primarily on prevention, in coordination with key government agencies (police, gendarmerie, fire department, etc.) and other local institutions (European Community of Alsace, town halls, intermunicipal communities, etc.).

Services and partnerships are established to protect the environment, particularly to safeguard birds and amphibians. In collaboration with the LPO and the SNA, concrete actions such as the transport of injured animals and the protection of amphibians are carried out. The fight against invasive plants such as ragweed and giant hogweed is also a priority, with measures for eradication and monitoring of sites.

The Brigade Verte d’Alsace is the public agency responsible for mosquito control in the Haut-Rhin department. A division of the Brigade Verte is entirely dedicated to mosquito control, in order to best address issues related to mosquitoes that cause nuisances or act as vectors for pathogens.
