Description

The association was founded in 2013 by farmers concerned about the environment and committed to promoting the idea of greater consideration for biodiversity in the agricultural sector. It is, therefore, an association created “by farmers, for farmers.”

OUR ACTIVITIES:

FARMER SUPPORT: We support farmers who wish to integrate biodiversity into their practices and on their farms. The goal is to provide knowledge about the animal species visiting the fields, to improve the habitat for vertebrate wildlife (birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles) by installing various structures (perches, nesting boxes, ponds, etc.), and to support project leaders throughout the process.

Our area of operation covers a radius of approximately 30 km around our offices in La Bégude-de-Mazenc and includes the Dieulefit-Bourdeaux, Montélimar Agglo, and Val de Drôme en Bio vallée communities of municipalities. This area of operation allows us to provide our expertise and support at the local level, while minimizing travel.

Support from L’Hirondelle aux Champs takes place in several stages:

  • Step 1 – The biodiversity assessment
  • Step 2 – Implementation of biodiversity-friendly measures or “Biodiversity Project”
  • Step 3 – Monitoring of actions or “Biodiversity Monitoring”

BIODIVERSITY ASSESSMENT: A “biodiversity” assessment involves identifying landscape elements that are present, absent, or damaged on a given agricultural plot. Each assessment is tailored to the specific area and the crops being grown.

THE COMMUNITY NURSERY: The plant recycling center: a unique place to discover!

The project aims to recover unsold plants intended for composting. A partnership has been established with GammVert, Delbard, Truffaut, and the Botanic Valence store.

We therefore offer a wide variety of plants for sale at reduced prices: the goal is to raise funds to finance our initiatives in support of biodiversity!

Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 AM to 12 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM, and Saturday mornings from 9 AM to 12 PM

 OUR PROJECTS:

  • · The Farm: The association’s first projects were carried out at the “model” farm Un Goût d’Air Libre, located in La Bégude de Mazenc and committed to agroecology. This farm is designed to serve as an educational resource for field visits focused on integrating biodiversity into agricultural settings.
  • · Hedge plantings
  • · Installation of birdhouses
  • · Creation of 2 ponds
