Description

Municipalities play a key role in adapting to climate change and protecting biodiversity. This course provides an overview of concrete measures that can be implemented to mitigate the effects of heat, drought, and heavy rainfall while creating recreational spaces for residents. In many cases, these measures also help promote local flora and fauna within the municipal area.

Participants will also learn about the various tools available to integrate these measures into municipal planning and thereby ensure their long-term sustainability.

Participants will:

  • Understand why it is important for municipalities to commit to adapting to climate change

  • Gain an understanding of their role and responsibility regarding adaptation to climate change and learn about their main options for action

  • Gain an overview of measures that can be effectively implemented

  • Possess the basic knowledge needed to make the most important strategic decisions regarding climate change adaptation in the built environment

  • Understand the potential synergies between promoting biodiversity and adapting to climate change

  • Establish new contacts and learn who to reach out to for further information

The webinar is designed for government officials, municipal secretaries, and those responsible for climate change adaptation and/or biodiversity within the administration who have not yet explored this topic in depth.

Participation in this webinar is free, but registration is required.
