The Nature en Périgord association, founded in April 2018 by experienced naturalists and environmental professionals, offers a wide variety of activities throughout the year focused on ecology, environmental education, species monitoring, nature exploration, and site management support.
OUR INITIATIVES
Biodiversity Charter: Since March 2024, Nature en Périgord has adopted a “garden biodiversity charter” in the form of a document to be signed. This document lists best practices for respecting nature, accompanied by a sign to be displayed outdoors. Membership is required to participate.
Nature en Périgord has been engaged in conservation efforts to protect amphibians for three years now.
Installation of birdhouses, bat roosts, and insect hotels, as well as the setup of a compost bin in the prefecture’s gardens. The structures are built using materials collected from staff members.
In 2019, Nature en Périgord proposed the idea of creating a wildlife care center in the Dordogne. Indeed, many injured animals from our department are currently being treated in Gironde, Lot-et-Garonne, and Charente. It had become urgent to have a care center nearby.
